PERHAPS
THE MOST ORIGINAL
1964 Chevrolet
Impala Convertible
in
existence!
This is a
very low mileage (55,000) classic. It was bought from the original
owners who babied the car. It has ALWAYS been garaged, and meticulously maintained.
It is original down to the convertible top. Yes, that's
correct, it still has the original top that came on it in 1964!! WOW!
The color is the "rare" Laurel green and the original paint is
in very good condition.
The body is straight as a board with no dents, dings, or ripples. It is
absolutely unbelievable. Everything is intact and everything works
perfectly. There is no pitting on the chrome whatsoever, no glass
separation, and has nearly flawless moldings. This car came equipped with power top, power brakes,
power steering, 283 V8 (2 barrel), padded dash, windshield squirters,
and Chevrolet visor mirror with comb holder. Now for the interior, Once
again all original. All of the windows roll up and down with ease. The
front or rear seats have NEVER been sat on the original material. It
still has the clear plastic seat covers on it from day 1! It also has
the ORIGINAL boot cover inside the bag and has NEVER been installed. The
boot cover still looks brand new and matches the interior. Inside the
trunk is absolutely clean clean clean. The original spare is
mounted with the original bumper jack and flare.
This car deserves to be preserved
as a "survivor" in AACA, or CCCA
The goal for the summer of 2001
is to qualify the car for the AACA Historic Preservation (HPOF) award.

Follow along as we continue to
carefully clean and detail this original vehicle. We'll document
everything we can !
We will converse with restoration
shops and AACA judges to get advice on the tricky decisions of what gets
restored and what stays as is. This is significant to the hobby and its
approach to "Survivor" vehicles as these cars and their
individual components can never be returned to original condition once
restored. On the other hand, the cars deserve to look as good as they
can, and some level of "bringing the car back to original" is
appropriate.
This should provide for an
interesting forum ! !
