The idea of Building a Vintage Car Hauler came back in the late 1970's when I was a "Ford" person.
I looked for a few years for a late 30's Ford COE that could be converted to a car hauler.
I was going to put an original flathead motor in the truck and attempt to make a usable hauler.

Luckily, I never found one, and my built flathead sits in a 1940 Ford Sedan where it more appropriately belongs.

Now, "Ebenezer'" appeared for sale on the local scene earlier in the summer of 2000.
It happened to be sitting in Nashville, and appeared to be in pretty solid shape and most of the hard to get parts were there.

I bought it ! ....and like most of my projects, buy first, investigated later.
The truck spent its life in southern Tennessee with a grain box on its back.
It was used as a farm truck and showed only 32000 miles on its odometer

The first step in the restoration of this truck was to tilt the cab forward,
and begin the terrible job of sandblasting the entire frame and chassis.
The air cleaner was removed and the carburetor along with all other critical orifices were sealed and the storm began.
Several weekends were required to sufficiently clean the entire undercarriage including the underside of the cab.
All of the aging fiberglass insulation was removed and a thorough cleaning and sandblasting
left the sheet metal ready for a good coat of DP -90 catalyzed primer.

It was now time to begin work on the cab body.

Because the body had only been repainted once, and very little body damage had ever occurred,
the decision was made to eliminate the step of stripping, and to repair all existing dents and after a
thorough sanding - spend time with k-36 catalyzed primer.

The original color was used to repaint the truck. Light green with ivory upper accent.
